Plundering NPCs without losses

There's been talks on the official forums about plundering barbarian cities using only ballistas and transporters, with no losses at all.
I decided to give it a try, and so far I've found that my 139 ballistas can take out a L3 barbarian city with no losses at all. I figured I'll get some more before I try my luck with any higher lvl.
Anyway, there's talks about plundering up to L8 barbarian cities with no losses, and considering the amount of resources, XP and potential for medals, I'm upgrading my barracks to L9 to get this going fast.

Summary from the article at the main forum:

Level 1: 10 Ballista (archery 7)

Level 2: 36 Ballista (archery 7)

Level 3: 150 Ballista (archery 6)

Level 4: 200 Ballista (archery 6)

Level 5: 400 Ballista

Level 6: 600 Ballista (archery 10)

Level 7: 1100 Ballista

Level 8: 2450 Ballista

Level 9: 12.5k Ballista

Level 10: 25k Ballista

Note: since the patch 6/1/09 this is no longer possible course of the new game mechanics. Read more about it here. Alltho, NPC cities that doesnt have rockfall and few arch towers are still possible to farm with out losses; you just need to send more ballistas to succeed.

Nice tip - I sent 350 ballistas & 300 transports to plunder a lvl 4 barbarian city = no losses & plenty of resources.

Wonder what will work with lvl 6 now...???

That's amazingly useful!!! Had noticed that ballistas never took any damage. Will let you know about the lvl 6 when I've blatted the one next to me! Very Happy

Oops... was a bit rash and tried to do the lvl 6 town with 425 ballistas... got completely wiped out! Shocked

Maybe a thousand would do it?!?!

Depends on your tech I guess, seems like some people are able to farm L6 with around 600 ballistas. Unfortunately for me my travel time to hit anything but L1-3 or L7-8 is too much, so I'll simply build until I know I can take on the L8.

However, this is with L10 research, so if you're below it you might want to try some additional ballistas.

Should have brought more transports, but I kinda chickened out.

Keep in mind this worked for me with a 139 attack hero and most research at L10, you might need more ballista if you cant match that.

L8 farmed, 3.9k ballistas. I'll try to start running that number downwards to get a better sense of what is really needed.

Got the lvl 6 next to one of my cities... sent 867 ballistas and 451 transporters, lost 86 ballistas.

Is your archery level under L10?

Heros play a big part of this. Ideally their attack should be over 90.

Archery lvl.7 (researchign 8 at the moment... seems to be taking forever!), will use a better hero next time! Shocked

I can confirm that 2400 ballistas with maxed out sci works fine on L8 barbs.

So do I...

Also feel sorry for myself, attacked a lvl 8 NPC with everything I had... pushed them had but I lost everyone (well not everyone thanks to the joy of the Medic Camp, but needless to say I won't be trying that again for a while...)

If anyone knows what is needed to take a lvl 8 NPC, let me know!
