No, I'm not talking about selling them on the marketplace.. though that is an option, it won't bring you much.

You'll almost definitely reach a stage in the game where you have lots of resources but struggle to get much gold in. There's an easy way round this...

Upgrading your cottages costs only resources, no gold. The good thing is that without having to change your tax rate or anything else, upgrading your cottages will automatically encourage more people live in your city. Ergo, more taxes - a sustainable source of extra revenue with no initial gold outlay!
